TY Talk: Calvin James
An incredible (literally) talk from Calvin James who spoke about his work as an ambulance driver with the Red Crescent during the first years of the Syrian War. He also spoke about his continuing work with Yazidi refugees (who have been the victims of slavery and a recent attempted genocide).
scoopfoundation.org will be holding their annual art auction this weekend. Some really lovely art work to pick up (at a steal!) from the likes of Maser, Joby Hickey, Decoy, Asbestos and lots more
He recommended the book The Last Girl by his friend and Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad.
Also here's the link of Calvin reporting for RTE on a bomb attack in Syria in which up to 50 people were killed.
A Banner of Thanks: TYs needed to help out 🌈
Any TYs interested in Art, Graphic Design or simply those would like to be part of short project to make a giant banner of thanks for the St Vincent's Hospital staff who are currently using the school car park.
The finished design will be placed in the windows of the 1st floor for all to see! Surely a positive gesture and a dramatic addition to a portfolio or CV.
