185 students from across the EU zone  participate in a  Model United Nations Conference in The European School of Woluwe-Saint-Lambert (EEB2)

Lise Kingo, CEO United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) - the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative- addresses BRUMUN 2018 conference on the theme 'Towards a Sustainable Future' is so important now.

Why Get Involved?

Because you are the future and you can never be too good at communicating!

Because the skills you learn in these types of role plays will help you address the challenges ahead!

Because encouraging you to care about politics and political issues is not only important, it's essential!

HOW WE PREPARE?

When preparing for MUN, it is important to research the political positions of your assigned country on the issues to be discussed in your committee.

For example, in 2018 St Michael's College was assigned the State of Palestine - a UN non-member obeserver state.

As part of our research and preperation we met with Ambassodor Ahmad Abdelrazek and Jilan Abdalmajid, Deputy Head of Mission of the State of Palestine.

Representing Ireland

We were delighted to represent not only St Michael's College but Ireland in Europe.

The BRUMUN Conference has delegates from all over the EU and it marks a wonderful opportunity to be introduced to exceptional students who are passionate about the society they intend to build.

One of the most exciting aspects of the conference is enjoying world class facilities. Eurocontrol (Europe's air traffic manager) kindly donated their conference centre for 2018.

Alongside Lise Kingo's message of support we heard from some of the world's most powerful and significant leaders

Commissioner Günther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources, who is responsible for negotiating and managing the EU budget, reminds BRUMUN 2018 delegates of the importance of engaging with politics.

Commissioner Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, sent a message of support to the BRUMUN  Conference 2018

BRUMUN 2018 Opening Ceremony with Keynote Speeches from- Eamon Brennan, Director Eurocontrol; Erica Jangen, Senior Advisor in Public Affairs, Prime Group; & Richard Northcote, Chief Sustainability Officer, Covestro (Formerly Bayer's $12.3 billion materials science division).
