Applications are now open for TY international trips. I shared the application form on the TY Google Classroom.

Please state your order of preference and complete all questions to your best ability.

The deadline for applications is this Wednesday 1pm.

A note to say that we are looking in to an additional international trip if there is a demand (general details of this are in the application form)

The following trips will be taking place in the new year:

Boston Exchange
9 - 17 March & 30 Mar - 7 April

I'm happy to announce that we will be running the St Michael's/ St Sebastian's Boston Exchange again. This has always been a massive success.

Dates are a follows:

St Sebs Students in Dublin: 9 - 17 March

STMC Students in Boston 30 Mar - 7 April

The exchange costs €850 approx. This will cover the cost of flights (through a bonded travel agent) and the expenses of a chaperone staff member who will travel with the boys.

Capacity: 8 students

Sailing Ocean Voyage aboard the Pelican of London
19th - 24th May

Experience the beautiful Irish & British coastlines from a different perspective. See our wonderful sea life; dolphins swimming alongside & whales in the distance. Experience amazing sunrises and sunsets.

Climb the rigging, hoist sails, navigate, drive the ship, sail through the night and work alongside the professional crew.

The approximate cost is €800

Capacity TBC

STMC TY Camino Trip

22th May - 27th May

The Camino, or “The Way”, is a network of medieval paths across Spain and Europe that all lead to one final destination – the city of Santiago De Compostela. Situated in the Celtic region of Galicia in north-western Spain, Santiago has attracted countless walkers and pilgrims for over a thousand years.

The most popular section is between Sarria and Santiago, a walk that typically takes 5 days (and counts for your Camino certificate as it’s a little more than the 100km minimum for this purpose). About 60-70% of all pilgrims begin at some point along the Camino Francés.

Sample Itinerary

We walk a short distance on the day we arrive and walk for 4 full days afterwards, while still walking the 100km needed for our Compostela.

  • Day 1 - Flight to Santiago, 13:10 - 16:30 (current schedule times). Upon arrival in Santiago, you will get a private transfer from Santiago airport to your starting point, Ferreiros.

  • Upon arrival in Ferreiros, make sure to have your passport stamped there, without it, you will not be able to get your Camino cert. Walk 8.7km to Portomarín

  • Day 2 - Walk from Portomarín to Palas De Rei, 24.3km.

  • Day 3 - Walk from Palas De Rei to Arzúa, 28.9km.

  • Day 4 - Walk from Arzúa to Pedrouzo, 19.1km.

  • Day 5 - Walk from Pedrouzo to Santiago de Compostela, 19.4km.

  • Day 6 – Free morning in Santiago. Collected at 14:00 in Santiago for return to airport. Aer Lingus flight to Dublin, 17:10 - 18:30.

The approximate cost is €670 (including flights, insurance, food & board, supervision & transfers (while abroad).

Capacity: 24 students

Donate a Bike this Christmas

If you have an old bike that you're happy to donate to those in need this Christmas, our Upcyclers—Rory, Colm, Tom, and Ben (along with Stephen from The Bike Hub)—will be available every Tuesday to collect it at the STMC Pavilion.

Please ensure the bike is in reasonably good condition and does not have any signs of rust.

Noel Turley Memorial Trophy

in aid of SPIRASI

Preparations for our immersion trip to Tanzania is underway. We are currently looking at finalising flight details.

A letter to families of students picked in the first round of offers will be sent early next week.

A big thank you to the boys for helping with the Noel Turley Memorial Trophy in aid of SPIRASI. The boys have been busy selling tickets and acting as stewards during the match.

TY Irish Orals 18th and 24th November

The orals are taking place on Saturday 18th November and Friday 24th November ( for the students that are in France on the 18th). We will inform the students in our classes of their times individually but there are always a lot of students absent etc so it would be great to inform them via their google classroom so nobody has an excuse not to show up.

TY Talk: Smoking, Vaping & Your health

Friday 17th November

Time 2 - 3pm

Barbara Corr's talk aims to provide you with the tools you need to make informed decisions about your health.
