Delphi Important Information & Deadline for Waivers

 22nd September

Meeting to depart STMC (Ailesbury Road side) 8:30am

23rd September

Returning from Delphi Adventure Centre approx 2pm (arrival STMC approx 5pm)

Enrolment Form:

All students must present a completed enrolment form signed by a parent or guardian.

This form should have been submitted to my (TYC) office by Friday, 13th September. However, I have extended the deadline to Monday, 16th September.

The enrolment form is required for participation in activities and to ensure we are aware of any medical or dietary issues.

Students will not be allowed to participate in activities without this form.

Dietary Requirements:

If you have specific dietary requirements, allergies, or intolerances, these must be indicated on the enrolment form.

Upon arrival, students with dietary requirements should introduce themselves to the kitchen staff to ensure their needs are accommodated during their stay.

Sleeping Bags and Pillows:

Students must bring their own sleeping bags and pillows.

Footwear:

It is mandatory to bring walking or hiking boots. Students will not be allowed to participate in certain activities without appropriate footwear.

Mobile Phone Policy:

Please review Delphi’s mobile phone policy before the trip.

You can access it here: Delphi Mobile Phone Policy.

Damage/Defacement:

Any damage or defacement to the allocated rooms will result in a financial charge. We expect all students to treat the facilities with respect.

Class Activity Groups:

Students will remain in their assigned groups for the duration of their stay to help them get to know their new classmates. All activities will be partaken in with their designated TY class group.

Rooming List:

As discussed in class, room assignments will be grouped as follows:

  • Classes 4.1 & 4.3

  • Classes 4.2 & 4.4

  • Classes 4.5 & 4.6

The selection of activity groups and rooming lists will be finalised with the help of the TY Reps.

It is recommended that you bring the following for your trip:

  • The Schools Lotto opened today, Tuesday 10 September 2024, and closes at 5pm on Friday 4 October 2024

  • Only schools can enter the lotto, and student places will be allocated through a lottery system once registration closes.

Please note:

  • If we are successful we will receive one place for the in-person programme.

  • Only students in Transition Year as of September 2024 are eligible.

  • The fee for the in-person programme is €50 and we will be notified of next steps if selected.

Online Programmes (MiniMed, MiniDentistry, MiniPharm, MiniFutureScientist, MiniPhysio):

We have also registered for the online programmes, which have more capacity.

Registration opened today, Tuesday 10 September 2024, and closes at 5pm on Friday 4 October 2024, or when spaces are fully booked.

Important points:

  • Registration can only be completed by the TY coordinator and NOT a student or parent.

  • Only one registration per school is possible.

  • Weblinks to the online programmes will be shared one week prior to the event.

Each programme will run from 9am to 2:30pm and will feature interactive Q&A sessions moderated by RCSI.

  • The link can only be used once by the school, and not shared with individual students

  • Please note that as this is a medical programme, content will include surgeries, medical procedures & details about life as a medical professional.

This is an exciting opportunity for any student interested in healthcare!

Transition Year Students in Football Skills Coaching

2 time All Ireland League of Ireland winner Sean Buckley has been in touch.

He runs a football skills school based in South Dublin, which has been successfully operating for three years. The school provides foundational skills training for children aged 5 to 12, focusing on essential football techniques.

Due to reaching capacity with current players, there is an opportunity for Transition Year students to assist with coaching. This would offer valuable experience in sports education and coaching. As well as a great opportunity for Community participation as part of the Gaisce Award.

The programme aims to provide a structured and organised environment for youth football in Ireland, inspired by the level of organisation seen in other sports such as rugby.

For those interested in participating or seeking further information: sign up with the form below.

A sample video showcasing the coaching program can be viewed here:
