A note from Mr Hogan:

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

The Year is passing quickly and I am delighted that the students all seemed to have a good experience during their first activity week last week. I just want to clarify one or two issues as we progress into the year.

- I am currently reviewing the TY Assessment 1 reports and I may be in contact with you regarding academic performance. While this year is not a primarily academically focused year it is expected that all students will work hard for the assessment tests that can be used for streaming into 5th year. Please feel free to contact me also if you have any questions or concerns.

- Please direct any emails regarding ANY absence to me and not Mr Copeland. This includes any partial absence or from Thursday afternoon activities. It is not appropriate for a student to just go home and then I receive an email after he has left the school premises. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

- A number of students have been arriving late in the morning and I please ask you to try and ensure your son arrives at school on time. If he is late twice in the week he will get an automatic Saturday detention if I have not received correspondence regarding the reason for the late arrival.

- Please ensure your son has full uniform and arrives to school in full uniform. It has been very good overall since the start of the year and I thank you all for this. As winter approaches the school jumper will need to be worn regularly by your sons.

- The TY trips as announced by Mr Copeland are very exciting. There will be a limited number of spaces on the trips and behaviour will be an important factor in deciding who gets places. This will be reviewed at the appropriate time of the application process and indeed up to and including the trip departure.

- Thank you all so much for the help and support for the Hospice Coffee morning which raised in excess of €3000. It was a fantastic event and I was delighted to meet many of you. I am hoping to plan an event a little later in the year where there will be another opportunity to meet.

I will be in touch again in the next few weeks but in the interim please keep an eye on Mr Copeland's weekly newsletter.

Kind regards

Liam Hogan
