TY Timetable (Amended)
Subject Choices,
TY Subject Options & Online College Course Talks
1. Some TYs have a few gaps in their timetable due to the fact that some TY subjects are not taking place online.
If you would like to join another TY option class you can ask the subject teacher if that is ok. This might offer you a greater insight into subject choices for 5th year in the coming weeks.
2. Also, you will be hear from Mr O'Connor & Mr Hogan about subject choices for 5th year shortly.
3. Would you be interested in speaking to some past pupils about their college experiences? We are aiming to run some Q&A sessions about courses & college life with past pupils who are currently in 3rd level.
Have a look at the TY survey below and make your suggestions as to what colleges you'd like to know more about.
4. Finally, if you don't intend to join another class you could take part in some of the activities below.
TY Reps Meeting & TY Activities
Mr Joyce and I have had another productive TY Reps meeting this week. Thanks to the reps for their commitment and work throughout the 1st week of emergency schooling.
We'll be organising some light (& hopefully fun) activities while schools are operating online.
No obligation to take part but everyone is welcome to join in.

Could you design a house for everyone?
Look around where you live: the construction industry has designed and built everything you see. Your school, the roads you travel, hospitals, the streets and shops of your town. Even your home was designed and built by people working in the construction industry.

You might have some more to say ?
We'd like to know how it's gone for you & listen to what you have to say about your TY classes so we can keep everyone updated with your points of view.
We want to take on board your opinions, and where possible, make changes. Where classes or activities have been engaging we would encourage you to highlight this too.
[It goes without saying but just in case: aim to keep your comments civil, informative and constructive - and avoid comments that *could be deemed* rude, insulting or off-topic]

The Big Sleep Out
4th February
Will you dedicate a night of your time to show solidarity with those who are homeless?
The Covid-19 pandemic is taking a heavy toll on people in our community.
Covid-19 pandemic puts people who are homeless at risk disproportionate risk – not only are they more likely to have underlying health issues, they are unable to follow the key recommendations –wash your hands regularly, stay at home and keep a ‘social distance’ from other people.
We want to raise awareness of these issues that are still a major factor in the lives of some of our most vulnerable community members.
TY SYMC will be sleeping out* in unison to offer a display of solidarity with those experiencing homelessness and displacement on Thursday, 4th February.
More details will follow next week but anyone interested can sign up via the TY Survey above.
*You're going to need a tent!
