Lichen Art Project
I'm happy to say that there is an opportunity for students interested in biology, chemistry and art (anyone really)
We have been invited by Chole Brenan, an artist from the National College of Art and Design and Kamila Kwasniewska, plant scientist from Trinity College Dublin to take part in an Arts Council Ireland funded citizen science project incorporating art and lichen observations into their Air Quality Campaign.
The project is based on observation of lichens – bioindicators of air pollution, that grow on the trees, rocks, walls and roofs in the school area, to monitor the local air quality (pollution with nitrogen forms)
You can find out more on the project HERE
If you're interested just drop into the TYC office and sign the form to take part.
GLOBEAir Quality Campaign
We are taking part in a school-based citizen science campaign this month where we get the opportunity to collect meaningful data about traffic-related air quality at our school and the air we breathe.
The measurement period is now scheduled for April 15th through April 29th : this is a snapshot of NO2 concentration levels for that time, it won’t show variations within the measurement period such as highs/lows associated with peak traffic times and quiet periods.
We will also be continuing our work with WeCount measuring traffic in our school (https://we-count.net/networks/dublin)
Thanks to Garrett & Lorcan for managing this project.
