Junior Certificate Reflections
REMINDER
These must be completed by today Friday, 19th October.
Please find below the link to the Google form to fill in your Junior Certificate "Other Area of Learning" & "Wellbeing" reflections. It may be a good idea to type them up in Word and review them before submission, as we are not allowed to amend them. (These were posted on the Google Classroom last week)
Junior Certificate Other areas of Learning & Wellbeing Form (it is important that you strictly observe the character count)
All instructions are in the Google Classroom.
Footee
Congratulations once again to everyone on their Junior Certificate results! We celebrated with a fun (if mucky) round of foot golf.
Core Subject Assessment Week
Assessment Week for core subjects will take place from 21st to 25th October. As previously stated, it is important that you attend all classes during this period for English, Irish, Maths, and Modern Foreign Languages.
Absence from an assessment may impact streaming for 5th Year. If you are unable to attend, it is your responsibility to contact your class teacher.
Also, a reminder that assignments are available to view via guardian summaries or can be accessed in full detail by logging into individual student Google Classrooms via the app.
Fancy Dress Friday (25th Oct) & Nightmare Realm
This Friday! Everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their best Halloween costumes. Judges will be visiting classes throughout the day to award prizes for most spooktacular, so be sure to bring your most creative, spooky, or funny costume ideas! We’re looking forward to seeing all the fantastic outfits
Also, we had a ghoulishly good time at the haunted mazes of the Nightmare Realm in Town last Wednesday. Well done to all for their good spirits and behaviour!
"Nutley Avenue" - The TY Musical
In association with Mount Anville, SAVE THE DATE for our Transition Year musical, Nutley Avenue: Tuesday, 26th November, and Wednesday, 27th November.
Tickets will go on sale after the mid-term break.
Together Academy
A special thanks to our six volunteers from 4.2 who are busy this week helping Together Academy reopen for the new term and the year ahead. It’s one of the nicest cafés in Dublin 4 and worth a visit!
Digital Mentors
We still have two places for older learners in our Digital Learners programme: free, informal digital lessons for older learners in our school community, taught by our TY students.
If your child's grandparents (or any older relatives) would like to join, the "Digital Mentor" lessons will be self-paced and held weekly in the School Library on Tuesdays, 4pm - 5pm, starting November 5th (and running for 13 weeks: 19th & 26th November; 3rd, 10th December; 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th January; 4th February; 11th, 19th, & 25th March).
It’s a great opportunity to learn how to use digital devices in a friendly environment! Please let us know if they would like to take part.
Just email me. acopeland@stmc.ie if you'd like to register or know more.
TY Trips Interviews and Selections
The interviews for the Tanzania 🇹🇿 trip took place on Thursday, and we want to commend all those who participated. The selection process was highly competitive, and we appreciate the enthusiasm shown by everyone involved. The final list of students traveling to Tanzania will be announced next week.
In the meantime, we will be offering and confirming places for all the other trips over the coming weeks.
Remember to stay focused on your attendance, behaviour, and participation—each aspect is vital as we finalise the selections. Best of luck to all!
