Online Look into Law TY Programme Sign Up
You will be sent a link this Monday to sign up for this very informative programme.
"The Bar of Ireland's "Look into Law" Transition Year "Access all areas" Programme is an exciting initiative aimed at increasing students' awareness of the work of The Bar of Ireland and to encourage students to consider a career as a barrister.
You'll be actively encouraged to get involved with tasks suggested each week & to share them with the other schools. Full details on how to do this will issue nearer the time. Engagement over social media with photos and contributions will also be encouraged but this will be voluntary.
RCSI Mini Medical & Mini Health Sciences 2021
22 – 26 February
This programme will encompass elements of the three schools of Medicine, Pharmacy & Physiotherapy. It will be virtual, therefore there will not be a limit on spaces & all Transition Year students who register can attend. While the event is online, attendees will not be required to turn on their cameras.
Students will need to register themselves directly through the link below & RCSI Mini med will be in touch with those students in early February with further details.
Registration will close on 12 February 2021.
Reeling in the Years with Mount Anville
Students come together online, research events that happened locally and nationally, as well as in schools, and put together a 30min media piece based on a given year in the 2010 decade - big news events, big sports events (eg who won the JCT/SCT, hockey), what the school musicals were, student of the year etc. Same style as the programme but with more of a local flavour.
Virtual groups of 4-6 will be assigned a series of tasks to keep their efforts practical and manageable.
Anyone interested can sign up HERE
TY Challenges
The next challenge will be announced later today after our TY Reps meeting...for now, here's a small acknowledgement of the many entries for this week.
Lots of incredible shots throughout the week with some very original (&funny) videos being uploaded on Google Classroom.
Keep it up! TY Reps will be selecting a winner and announcing Monday.
Car Tyre Challenge
You must have parental supervision for this challenge!
Make your own instructional video on how to change a car tyre. They can watch the video below to learn how to do it and then try to make their own (with the help of a parent!!) The best one/ones will be used in class as my instructional video when we get back hopefully in the not too distant future. Anyone who sends in a video entered in a draw for vouchers, maybe voucher for driving lessons! You have until the end of next week to get it in. Share your video with Mr Knaggs from their google drive.
Mobility with Mr McMahon
Thanks to Mr McMahon who is posting a video every Monday and Thursday (it will be no more than 10 mins of mobility for you to do at home).
Now that we might be walking a lot less and looking at screens a lot more, it's highly recommend you do this at least 3 mobility sessions a week.
Very beneficial!
Keep an eye on the Google Classroom for updates.
Health Fest 2021
This year's festival is online and will feature demos engaging with physical activity, nutrition and mental wellbeing talks for TYs delivered from Irish experts; You'll be able to visit exhibitor stands, win prizes and there's even a virtual scavenger hunt. This link will also provide details on the event schedule, speakers and an FAQ section.
Please sign up as soon as possible, and no later than Friday 22nd of January, to ensure your place is secure.
