☕️Hospice Coffee Morning☕️

A date for everyone's diary: We've been supporting Hospice Coffee Mornings since the very first was held!


We are asking all TYs to bring in a cake/buns/cookies etc for this Thursday's Hospice Coffee Morning along with a donation of €3 per student. This will be collected (cash/card) by TY reps on Tuesday.


Also, if anyone has a spot prize for the Coffee Morning Raffle that they would like to offer please send it in to the Admin Office or the TYC or Chaplaincy Office.


A very special thanks to Karen and Caroline in the PA for all their help and support.


Expression of Interest for School Trips 2025


The form below has been sent to all TYs - we ask that this is filled out via the Google Classroom with a parent/guardian to express interest in participating in one of the upcoming school trips. 


You will be able to indicate your preference for each trip and provide us with additional details to help with the selection process.


The trips available are:


  • Tanzania Immersion Trip, 18 - 28 May (TBC dependent on flight times)

  • Camino: The Portuguese Way, 18 - 23 May

  • Boston Cultural Exchange 15 - 23 February & 14 - 22 March

  • Austria Area 47 Trip | 25 - 30 May

  • Tall Ship Sailing Expedition  (7 days at sea; dates April or May TBC)

*All costs are approximate and subject to change. They will include flights, meals and accommodation, insurance and supervision.


Please note that each trip has a limited capacity, and participants will be selected based on the following criteria: attendance, behaviour, and participation in Transition Year (TY) activities (An application form & interview also form the basis for selection on the Tanzania trip).


We encourage all students to apply, but not all applicants may receive their first-choice trip due to these limitations.


Please note that if a TY accepts a place on one trip he may not take a place in any other of trips listed above (i.e. one trip limit per student).


The expression of interest form will close Friday 6pm , 4th October.


End of Module Assignments

Parent invite to receive email summaries

Parents;


Over the coming week, you will receive an invitation to sign up for email summaries regarding end-of-module assignments.


These summaries will provide you with updates into key areas of focus for each module. You will be able to check individual results with your son via their (4.1 - 4.6) Google Classroom.


To sign up, follow these simple steps:


  1. Look for an email invitation from us in the next few days.

  2. Click on the link provided in the email.

  3. Complete the short form to confirm your email preferences.


1st Year Mentor Programme


Thanks to everyone for applying for the position of 1st Year Mentor this year. The deadline for applications is now closed.


Due to the overwhelming number of applications, we will not be conducting interviews. Instead, we are asking all applicants to complete the form posted on the Google Classroom, which will give you the opportunity to explain what you can bring to this important role.


Ten successful candidates will be selected from the submissions.


Please ensure the form is completed and submitted by midnight on Sunday, 29th September.

Delphi Trip

Congratulations to everyone on their participation in the Delphi Overnight Adventure! It was a fantastic experience.


Participation certificates will be distributed next week. For those working towards the Gaisce Bronze Award, this activity can be registered as your Adventure Journey Challenge.

Oddballs Talk

Thanks to Ben from The Oddballs Foundation for delivering such an informative and engaging talk today on raising awareness about Testicular Cancer. His presentation highlighted some key areas, including the importance of regular self-checking, identifying signs and symptoms, and how to break down the stigma associated with men's health.

Ben provided essential information on how to 'Check Yourself' with a step-by-step guide and shared valuable insights into the diagnosis, treatment stages, and support networks available.


The main message that; together, we can all help raise awareness and save lives!
