Explorium Highlights

An amazing afternoon at Explorium. So much stuff to do!

TY Tuesday Activity: Tip Rugby Tournament

17th September

1:35 - 3:35pm

This is the first of the activities organised by the TY Reps. 7 aside teams will be selected at random and all TYs are expected to take part in FULL gear. Anyone unable to play (ie who have a note from a guardian) will be given an organiser/record keeping role for the afternoon.

Teams will be posted on the office window.

All scores to be recorded and added to year long league between the classes.

1st prize: €10 Tolteca voucher for each team member

2nd prize: €5 Tolteca voucher for each team member

Gaisce Online Registration (final step)

Thanks to all of those who dropped in Consent `Forms for yesterday's deadline. Please note that I will accept Consent Forms on Monday...so no panic!

To register your place for the Gaisce Award click on this link and follow the steps. The 'organisation' is St Michael's College and the 'PAL' is Aaron Copeland.

You will not need to pay - please select the option that involves the school taking responsibility for payment.

Any issues with registration can be sorted in person this week.

TY Hike:

List of those with responsibility for

obtaining 4 man tents for/with their groups

Please note that TYs don't need to be taking part in the Gaisce Award for this Hike. All TYs are expected to take part unless they have parental permission not to take part due to other commitments or injury.

For now the most important thing for each TY is to make sure that they have access to a good pair of solid walking shoes/boots (that are broken in!).

Students named here should not assume that they have to pay for the the tent themselves. In the past students have borrowed tents or combined the payment from the group - €20 from each group member will purchase an adequate tent from shops like Mountain Warehouse, Halfords etc.

Hell & Back Payment Deadline

Wednesday 18th September

All those who wish to take part in Hell & Back 8km, 2nd Oct, should have €25 given to Ms Weldon for this Wednesday. Those who do not, will not be allowed travel.

Run in the Dark Sign Up

13th November

8pm

"Through Run in the Dark, Mark Pollock aims to inspire people to build resilience and collaborate with others so that, together, they achieve more than they thought possible. For some that means gathering a group of friends or colleagues to train hard and get fit with a 5k.

For others it means building a team of experts to perform better. For us, at the Mark Pollock Trust, it means supporting Mark to deal with the ongoing physical, psychological and financial impact of his catastrophic spinal cord injury, while also allowing him to pursue his personal mission to cure paralysis in our lifetime."

There is a sign up sheet for the Run in the Dark 5km on the office window.

Deadline for entry is Wednesday, 18th September. Entry is free.

Young Social Innovators Sign Up

At the heart of the Young Social Innovators programme is the development of active, creative citizens.  And it is active, creative citizens who will lead the transformation of Ireland.  As President of Ireland I pay tribute to each one of you that responded so positively to the invitation to stretch and strengthen your leadership potential by becoming involved with this initiative."
MICHAEL D HIGGINS, YSI PATRON, PRESIDENT OF IRELAND

Anyone interested in the YSI can sign up in the office this week (deadline: Friday, 20th September)

Scavenger Hunt Winners

Winners! Well done to all that took part in this year's Dublin Scavenger Hunt and congratulations to Noah and the team on their brilliant orientation over the last week.

Look into LAW Draw

There were 39 sign ups for the Look into LAW programme last week. I will hold a lottery draw to select the person put forward from the school on Monday.

The result will be communicated directly to the student drawn.
