TY Tuesday: The 40 Foot Winter Swim!

We'll be building on this week's SOAR workshop experience by engaging in as many challenges that we can for the remainder of the year... it really was some tough work!

We'll be holding an assembly workshop this week to create ideas as to what we can do as a year group to strive for more for each other.

(Regarding the 40 Foot; we'll be travelling by DART this Tuesday so make sure to bring train fare as well as warm clothes to change back in to. Please note that alternative arrangements have been made for any boys who don't wish to brave the cold waters!)

SOAR Workshop

A massive well done to all the TYs who took part in one of the most powerful and affecting workshops this year.

The lads showed real bravery in opening up to one another. A truly impressive experience.

Parents: for more information on the work of SOAR you can visit: www.soar.ie

Last week's TY Tuesday: Pop Up Playground!

Thanks to the lads who got into the spirit of fun last week in a very random mix of activities!

Peer to Peer Drug Mentoring Graduation!

Well done the the TYs who have been working with Crosscare over the past few weeks to train up in how to speak with younger people about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. TYs will speak with 1st year students and 6th class students about their personal experiences and how to avoid dangerous situations.

Presentations the President of the

United Nations General Assembly

Salim Kanjani and fellow delegates from the RTÉ Youth Assembly on Climate met today with President Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, the President of the UN General Assembly, on Thursday to present him with their statement and ten recommendations to tackle the climate crisis.

Much of TY took part in the Fridays for Future Demonstration to support the recommendations of the Youth Assembly.

U17s Football

The U17 football team came from two goals down to earn a well deserved point today away to St Killians. The lads were strong throughout but fell behind due to two sloppy goals. Two Brendan Crean goals late in the second half provided a well earned point. Its been a busy week for the STMC Soccer this week with both the U17s and U19s both having 2 games. The U19s have made it into the league semi-final while the u17s, after todays result are still in with a chance of qualification. No doubt there are many tired bodies this week, while also look forward to the final group games in the coming weeks. Thanks to Mr Lahiff and Conor Hurley for thier continued work.

Homeless Contact Work

We're looking for 5 volunteers to go out to help the homeless this Tuesday evening, 6 - 7pm.

I'll be asking for sign ups this Monday.

Visiting Speaker, John O'Shea

John O'Shea spoke to TYs and 6th Years about his work with some of the world's most vulnerable communities last Tuesday.
