Welcome TYs 16/17
Just a little under a week into the TY, so, I wanted to get in touch with the following information outlining the activities for the following weeks/months ahead. This TY Blog will be updated by each Friday eve throughout the year. Please be sure to keep up to date with sign up sheets and deadlines as I will not be able to guarantee that each TY will be able to participate if they are late signing up. TY Overview & Registration for Activities
A TY assembly will take place in the Lwr Study at 1:35 - 3:3:35pm, Tuesday 5th September.
We will be going through an overview of the year to come. It's a good opportunity for TYs to ask any questions that they might have on the year.

TY Hike - Gaisce Adventure Journey
This year's Gaisce Adventure Activity will be a 2 day, 31KM hike along the Wicklow Way. This spectacular hike will begin at Crone Woods, pass near Powerscourt, and finish at Glendalough (with an overnight camp at the picturesque Lough Dan Scout Centre). We will be leaving at 8:45am, Tuesday 19th September and arriving back at the school on Wednesday at approximately 1:00pm. As part of the Gaisce Award, participants are required to plan this themselves, as well as source their own equipment (with a little help of course). A planning meeting will take place on the 6th September (Indigo Assessments will be moved forward to accommodate this). For now though, TYs should try to find a group of 10 -12 that they can hike and pitch camp with.
Junior Cert Results Celebration in Jumpzone, Sandyford
This is a small tradition at this stage. Those TYs that would like to can join us in Jumpzone for a session a 2pm.
Please note: if you intended to go for lunch to celebrate results you will most likely not be able to sign up.
If you would like to be part of the Junior Cert Jumpzone Celebrations please be sure SIGN UP by filling out the Jumpzone Waiver that you'll receive on Monday.
This has always been a great wait to get rid of that tension that had built up during the day!! The deadline for return is Wednesday 6th September.
*TYs will receive their Junior Certs this Wednesday at midday in the Assembly Hall.
Morning Career Talks
Just a brief note to say that Morning Career talks will be running throughout the year. Please get in touch if you have any suggestions as to what you'd like to hear about regarding careers or college courses.
I will be in touch with times and dates very soon.
Simon Community Work Placements
TYs who are looking for Work Placements can have a one week placement (during their allocated dates) with the Dublin Simon Community charity shops or in their fundraising offices. Note: Places are limited to 4 students at a time.
