Downs Syndrome Ireland
A massive thanks to all of the volunteers who signed up to help out at the Down Syndrome Ireland Flag Days on the 7th and 14th October. I'm absolutely blown away with the amount of TYs who have willing to help in their own time. Thank you guys!
The TY League
The TY League is a Year long series of events and competitions that will challenge TYs both in and out of school times.
These include in school: Tip Rugby, Ekiden Relays, Traditional Sports Day games, Volley Ball, Darts, Frisbee, Quizzes (including a sSelling Bee!). Out of school events include: Golf, Indoor Curling, Clean Coasts Day and the TY Scavenger Hunt.
Academics and school attendance will also count for points!
Each class has been divided into groups and they will take part in a league as individuals as well as teams for some really great prizes.
The first of these events is

TY Talks: Stephen James Smith

A massive thanks to Stephen for performing and speaking to TY about his life as a professional poet (there aren't many around!). Stephen is always fascinating to listen to.
Here's some names that offer a a snap shot of Stephen's influences that he mentioned during his talk for those who want to follow up:
Pat Ingolsby
Lethal Dialect
Kate Tempest
Colm Keegan
Alan Watts
Eddie Vedder
Cormac Begley
Tommy Potts
A mixed bag but each influence fascinating in their own right.
